“All in all a great device with little compromise. Wish it had an extra optical input, but this IS the future after all. It’s got LOTS of HDMI inputs! I’m using 5 and I STILL have two left (plus another on the front!) For the price on Amazon – BUY THIS! (Especially when it goes on sale for 699 on some weekends) “ (Hans)

When you use the iControlApp2 with your iPad that the 1021 really comes alive. The first iControlApp (which can be used with the 1020) was very limited in its capabilities and developed for the iPhone (rather than the iPad). The iControlApp2, on the other hand, is more comprehensive in its feature-set and better suited not only for configuring the receiver, but also for selecting options during play, such as switching internet radio stations.

All in all, the Pioneer VSX-1021 is a real stand-out in the entry-level market in offering Airplay, component video processing, Iphone and Bluetooth compatibility, and most importantly an upgraded and robust amplification section.
Here is what one of the owners of the Pioneer VSX had to say:
“ It has the best apple integration of the whole market. After buying it I noticed it was the best choice. Sound is just fantastic, video is amazing as well, both are better than most of it’s competitors. I needed to power a couple of rooms (TV for HT and Living room for Music) and the dual zone works perfectly. I won’t regret of this purchase ever!!! “(Alex Otero) Read entire post here.

“The OSD GUI is fabulous and very pleasing to the eye. Pandora, Slacker, vTuner, and DLNA features are very attractive for my likes and will most likely use them the most, among the other ‘Internet’ features. Connecting my Wii, PS3, HTPC, Cable box, and Asus media player was a breeze”….(C. Uttarkar)
